Naomi Campbell Addresses Racism in Fashion With Interview Magazine

"I had to do what I had to do for my race and to keep awareness out there," she said.

In her sizzling fashion spread with fellow supermodel Kate Moss for the December issues of German and Russian Interview, Naomi Campbell spiced things up for the cameras and even appeared topless for the cover. Inside, Campbell and Moss share a sexy embrace, but they also touched upon serious issues during their interview, like the racism that Campbell faced when she was starting out in the fashion industry.
"It felt… I can’t say that the word battle is the right word but it definitely felt like it was an uphill struggle for something. I felt like I had to do what I had to do for my race and to keep awareness out there," Campbell said.
Campbell has spent her time advocating for more diversity on the runway and the need for more opportunities for Black models. Last year she criticized a Cadbury ad for being stereotypical in comparing her to their latest chocolate product saying, "It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all Black women and Black people. I do not find any humor in this. It is insulting and hurtful."
