Oscar Nominee Quvenzhané Wallis Chats Fashion With André Leon Talley
For his video series Mondays with André, Vogue Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley recently sat down with 9-year-old actress and Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis to talk about music, fashion, and what she doesn't plan on wearing to the Academy Awards.
"I just want to know, what are you thinking about fashion? Because I read online that you did not want to wear a long dress," Talley asked.
"'Cause I might step on it and trip on it and I don't want to humiliate myself!" Wallis exclaims.
The pint-sized "It girl" gave a glimpse of her playful character by singing along to "Fashion Is My Kryptonite" by Disney Channel stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman and bopping along to Rihanna's "We Found Love" and Frank Ocean. She also revealed a love for the color pink, that she received an electric scooter for Christmas (in pink, of course), and that she just loves to party.
The adorable actress has received attention and praise for her work in the indie film Beasts of the Southern Wild earning Wallis the distinction of being the youngest person to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Even Beyoncé sent her best wishes to Wallis through her site writing, "Quvenzhané, congratulations on your historical Oscar nomination! You are a shining star!"
