The singer will be a "creative partner" for the brand's cosmetics line.
The public's reaction to Rihanna's River Island debut during London Fashion Week might have been less than stellar, but the singer isn't about to stop her train anytime soon. She's just announced a new partnership with MAC cosmetics that will result in multiple releases later on this year. WWD reports that the first product to launch will be a RiRi Woo lipstick inspired by Rihanna's favorite red shade, MAC's Ruby Woo. The lipstick is described as blue-red and retro matte with a moisturizer finish that works on every skin tone.
"When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC," Rihanna said. "Whatever color you want, it's like 'Let's go to MAC.' I've been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand."
This is the first time the cosmetics brand is teaming up with a celeb for an ongoing collaboration, calling the singer a "creative partner." Rihanna said the deal is "a no-brainer."
"I really got to play," Rihanna said. "There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."
RiRi Woo will be released during Rihanna's Diamonds Tour concerts at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on May 4 and 5. MAC will open a pop-up shop on location to promote the release.
