Martelly Launches Reconstruction Week in Haiti

Presentations highlighted a few upcoming building projects in the quake-ravaged nation.

President Michel Martelly launched Reconstruction Week in Haiti on Monday with a public event at the Back of the Republic of Haiti to showcase the plans to rebuild government buildings in Port-au-Prince’s downtown area. Tuesday, Martelly also announced the launch of  a mortgage-loan program that allows people who are employed to get a preferential credit rate to either build or buy homes. The government also plans to develop new neighborhoods outside of the capital and restructure existing neighborhoods.
