American Jim Yong Kim to Lead World Bank
The 52-year-old health expert Jim Yong Kim was chosen by the World Bank's board Monday to serve as the organization's next president, beating out the developing world’s favorite, Nigerian finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy marked the first time a non-American was considered for the post. Days prior to the decision, former Colombian finance minister Jose Antonio Ocampo dropped his candidacy for the post, calling the race a “political exercise.”
