LL Cool J is looking smooth on the cover of Essence magazine's March issue and in it, the rapper-actor talks about hosting the Grammys on Feb. 10, starring in crime drama NCIS: Los Angeles, and pushing his career aside to help his wife as she battled cancer.
"I think, at the end of the day, as a man, you should support the woman you're with. If she's got a dream, you need to help make that a reality. I'm doing the best I can to do that…," LL Cool J, born James Todd Smith, told the magazine.
He recently appeared on an episode of Oprah's Next Chapter during which his wife joined in to agree that their marriage was "awesome." When asked what made their marriage work after nearly 18 years together, Simone said, "Definitely putting God first. And compromise. Picking your battles, respecting each other."
