Rihanna Talks About Her Breakup With Matt Kemp
Pop superstar Rihanna isn’t holding back in her upcoming interview in Vogue magazine. While her relationships with men have become high-profile news, the singer has remained hush-hush about them. But in the April issue of Vogue, Rihanna opens up about her breakup with Matt Kemp…a little.
"I just let it go. I don't ever want to have to depend on a relationship,” she says. “I think it’s a really special thing to find love. It’s beautiful. Nothing can match it. But I want to make sure I find other things in life that I love—besides love.”
Aside from Rihanna’s breakup with the Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder and the highly publicized situation with Chris Brown, there’s another man in her life that she is at odds with: her father.
After the Chris Brown scandal, Rihanna’s dad spoke about his daughter in a gossip magazine. “He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check."
Rihanna says her estranged relationship with her 57-year old dad, who she says spent much of his life addicted to crack-cocaine, as well as other personal issues she was dealing with, helped her “tell stories” through her music.
“My album before that, there was still a little bit of protection; there was still an innocence to me. And what that time in my life did was kind of wake people up: It's not all a bed of roses. My life is like yours."
