The Destiny's Child singer hits up "106 & Park" to discuss the summer release.
Kelly Rowland premiered her new video "Motivation" featuring Lil Wayne last night on 106 & Park. During her interview, the singer revealed some details about her upcoming album, as well as how she linked up with Lil Wayne for the single.
"It’s the year of the woman. And it’s all about celebration of woman and that’s what I really focused on when I was listening for what I wanted on the album. And...we were supposed to release that album last year but I wanted to hold it because I felt like it wasn’t done," Kelly told BET.com in an exclusive interview.
With "Motivation," Kelly says that she's exploring her sensual side. The artist went for another major collaboration--this time, with Lil Wayne who she ran into at a Miami Heat game. "I finish the record and then I was listening to it in my car and I was like there needs to be a feature on here and I heard Wayne’s voice. And the next couple of days I go to a Miami Heat game and who do I run into, Wayne!"
The collaboration is a reunion of sorts for the two artist who previously worked together on the 2004 Destiny's Child single "Soldier." Having already notched studio time with the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Ester Dean, Rico Love and Jim Jonson on the production side, Rowland expects the album to be released sometime this summer.
