Over the past few years rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has been the victim of credit card fraud several times. It’s suspected that his highly publicized name coupled with the fact that he lives in the small state of Connecticut have made him an easy target for identity theft.

According to the New York Daily News thieves have tried on several occasions to use 50’s personal information, specifically his American Express card number to make high-price purchases. Last year a man called an electronics store in West Hartford, Connecticut, to purchase two flat-screen televisions. Store owners got suspicious after the caller claimed that he was out of state and wanted the TVs delivered to a Hartford address.

Although the card had not been reported stolen, store owners did not deliver the televisions and were later warned by Amex that their suspicions had been right, the numbers had been compromised. 50 Cent reportedly left the decision of what to do with the criminals “up to the court.” That particular case is still pending.
