Fat Joe may have made a name for himself as a heavyset MC (literally), but the South Bronx rapper has decided to change his ways. The "Lean Back" rapper is looking leaner than ever in the video for his new song "Drop a Body," having recently lost 88 pounds.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Joe said he was inspired to shed the pounds after he lost several friends to heart attacks last year.

"What's the difference between me and them? Health doesn't discriminate just because I'm famous," he said.

In a poignant moment, Joe said he didn't want to leave his 5-year-old daughter without a father.

"I can't leave my daughter behind," he said. "I want to be here for her; I don't want to die on her."

To lose the weight, Joey Crack cut out his routine of eating half-chickens and pasta and got on a new regimen of six small meals of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats per day. For fitness, he worked with a trainer to do two-hour cardio sessions plus weightlifting.

Now that he's on track to become more fit, will the rapper still be able to call himself Fat Joe?

"They're all trying to alter my name, but I can't see myself as anything else," Joe said of friends who've already taken to calling him "Skinny Joe" and "Joey Flaco" (Spanish for "thin"). "I think I gotta ask Diddy what my new name is."
