Ja Rule's Wife Dismisses Rumors Her Family Is Broke
A breadwinner spending two years away from the household while out of work is a threat to the livelihood of any family, however, Ja Rule's wife, Aisha Atkins, says she's got nothing to fear. Although her husband began his two-year prison sentence Wednesday (June 8) for attempted criminal possession of a weapon charges back in 2007, she's not concerned about how the family is going to make it financially, despite rumors that Rule is leaving the family high and dry.
"He did leave us well off," Aisha told TMZ. "All of the rumors about Ja being broke are far from true… Ja made sure… that me and my kids wouldn't need anything as far as income goes. He planned well before he went in. We won't be bad… even for a little bit—that was Ja's first priority as a man who makes sure his family comes first."
Ja previously expressed concern for his children, telling MTV News that he's being sent to jail at a time when his kids need him most. "My daughter, she's 15 right now," he said. "These are her last couple of years. She's about to graduate from high school, and she's going to college. She needs her father. My boys really need me right now too, as well as my wife. They need Daddy, and Daddy f---ed up."
The Murder Inc. MC was arrested after a New York City concert alongside Lil Wayne, who was arrested and charged with a similar offense. Weezy just finished serving his year-long sentence for the charges in New York's Rikers Island last November.
