VH1 will examine the interrelated history of crack cocaine and hip hop in a new documentary scheduled to air in September. The film, titled Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and the Crack Generation, will feature interviews with Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, The RZA, B Real of Cypress Hill and more.

The doc is executive produced and narrated by former dealer turned rap icon and actor Ice-T. The movie will explore the development of both phenomenons, which rose to prominence in the '80s, fueling each other for better and worse. Notorious dealers “Freeway” Ricky Ross and Azie Faison are also interviewed.

Planet Rock airs Sept. 18 at 10 p.m. on VH1.
