Island Def Jam CEO Barry Weiss might have claimed that the record label was "on fire", but after a recent downsizing, maybe he meant that literally. Over 20 employees, including industry executives Jonathan McHugh and Chris Hicks, were recently let go from Island Def Jam and Motown record labels, AllHipHop.com reports.

The company also anounced Tuesday that Bruno Mars' manager, Brandon Creed, will come in as an A&R consultant for both labels.

"As we continue to expand our creative investments, Brandon is a perfect fit," Weiss says. "Besides being a great artists' manager, he is also a talented A&R and creative executive. We plan to get him very involved across our labels at Island Def Jam Motown and Universal Republic."
