Trey Songz Opens New Chapter on Next Album

Trigga plans to test “boundaries” on upcoming project.

Trey Songz may be making headlines for landing a leading role in the remake of a horror classic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D, but music is still where he makes his bread and butter. Understanding that, the R&B don is currently working on his fifth album, Chapter 5.

In an exclusive interview with BET.com, Trigga says Chapter 5 will be the “album where I test my boundaries and break down any limits that exist in the game right now. It’s going to be my best album creatively, vocally and sonically [because] I had time to really sit and make it what I want to make it.”

As for artists he would like to work with, the singer who moonlights as the face of Roc-A-Wear products said: “I’ve always dreamed of singing a duet with Beyoncé. I want to work with young guys too that are dope like Bruno Mars, Big Sean and J. Cole. On this album, I want to exercise my mind and [collaborate with] a plethora of people.”

Songz is already proven that he can be successful working with others. He is currently featured on Lupe Fiasco’s “Out of My Head,” which is No. 11 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Charts. And in lending his vocals to J. Cole’s “Can’t Get Enough” Songz has helped the record become a favorite among rap fans.

As for his solo material, Songz’s club banger “Unusual” from his last album Passion, Pain & Please, is still in the Top 20 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop charts.
