Tinie Tempah Buys $37,500 Sneakers

The Marty McFly Back to the Future II Nike's sold for a good cause.

British rapper, Tinie Tempah, has just added a very expensive pair of sneakers to his collection. At an auction in LA last night he had the highest bid, $37,500, for the grey Nike's that Michael J. Fox (or Marty McFly) wore in Back to the Future II. The shoes have an LED screen and rechargeable battery pack that lasts 5 hours.

Michael J. Fox talked about the sneakers on Thursday's Letterman. Although Tempah got the futuristic shoes at the auction there will be 1,500 replicas sold on eBay with all proceeds benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. So far the bids are all in the thousands.

About his purchase Tempah says, "It was a total spur of the moment decision. I was really touched in the moment by the presentation and next thing I knew I owned these iconic sneakers. I feel fortunate to be able to help."
