The rowdy rap trio teams with the “Motivation” singer on new single.
Sometimes in music the most unlikeliest of combinations can make for beautiful music. That’s what Travis Porter is trying to accomplish with their latest single, “Slow Motion,” featuring Kelly Rowland. The Atlanta trio (Ali, Quez and Strap) have partnered with the former Destiny’s Child singer for the hypnotic single.
The track appears on Travis Porter’s new mixtape Differenter 3, which should hold fans over as they continue work on their long-awaited debut album. For the group, the choice to work with Rowland was a no-brainer.
"We've always wanted to work with Kelly because she really knows how to sell a song,” the trio said in an email to BET.com. “We'd be crazy not to have her on the track.”
Both Rowland and Porter are looking to broaden their audiences with the experimental track, which features them singing and rapping over a smooth snare beat and distorted vocal sample.
"[Kelly Rowland's] def kept her name relevant for a long time and that's what we wanna do,” the group said. “Make music. Enjoy it. And do it all over again in the morning."
As for the hold up on their debut, the group says the wait will be well worth it for fans.
"It'll be out in a few months,” the trio promised. “You know we have to keep our fans happy and give them music that they can vibe to, especially since we had a chance to work with Kelly Rowland, Wale, Big Sean and a lot of other heavy hitters. We Outchea."
The aforementioned artists all appear on Differenter 3, which is available for download now.
