Kendrick Lamar Signs Joint Venture with Aftermath, Interscope

The Compton rapper and his Black Hippy Crew join forces with Dr. Dre.

Kendrick Lamar has long been known to be affiliated with the house that Dr. Dre built, but now it's official: the Compton up-and-comer and his whole Black Hippy crew have signed with Aftermath/Interscope Records in a joint venture with their own Top Dawg Entertainment label.

Future releases from Kendrick (a BET Music Matters artist), Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock will be care of Top Dawg and Interscope, according to a statement given by TDE founder Anthony Tiffith to Fader.

Lamar's highly anticipated major label debut, Good Kid in a Mad City, is due later this year.

 

Kendrick will be among a host of music stars performing at the BET Music Matters showcase at South by Southwest on March 15. The much-anticpated event will be hosted by multi-platinum producer Timbaland.
