Rihanna Hits the Stage After Grandmother’s Funeral
Rihanna’s beloved grandmother Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite was laid to rest in Brooklyn on Friday, after a long battle with cancer. Prior to her death, Rih Rih had spent time visiting her grandmother in the hospital, taking pictures and creating a few more memories with the woman she affectionately calls Gran Gran Dolly.
Last week the pop star openly mourned the passing of her gran on Twitter, sharing photos and tweets about the loss.
"Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you," she tweeted.
Rihanna was spotted somberly exiting the funeral home, holding hands with her assistant Jennifer. After her grandmother’s funeral, she reportedly tweeted:
"IMA TRY TO BE A BIG GIRL NOW….#DearDolly."
Less than 24 hours later, the international pop siren flew out to London to perform at the Barclaycard Wireless Festival in London on Sunday. The singer was reportedly in high spirits opening with a medley of "Only Girl," "Disturbia" and "S&M." She ended with her global hit "We Found Love."
After her performance, Rihanna tweeted:
"#wireless I’m still bugging about how awesome the UK waz 2’nt."
Rih Rih is currently en route to Barbados to celebrate her grandmother’s hometown going away service, leaving her fans with this one last tweet.
"#grangranDOLLY time for your party in Barbados #g5jettin #G4L."
