Beanie Sigel Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Tax Evasion

Uncle Sam throws the rapper in the slammer for owing over $700,000 in unpaid taxes.

Beanie Sigel will serve two years in prison after being convicted of failure to pay more than $728,000 in taxes since 1999, a federal judge has ruled. The Philadelphia native and former Roc-A-Fella rapper pled guilty to the charges in August of last year.
Philadelphia's Fox 29 reported Beans, born Dwight Grant, earned more than $3.2 million between 1999 and 2005, but paid just $10,000 in taxes according to the charges.
The two year bid won't be his first. In 2004, Sigel went to prison for a year and a day on gun and drug possession charges shortly before the release of his critically acclaimed album The B. Coming. In 2008, he returned to jail for parole violations.
Recently, Lauryn Hill has also faced tax evasion charges that could put her behind bars. The acclaimed rapper and singer faces a sentence of up to three years in jail for failure to pay taxes between 2005 and 2007. She plead guilty to the charges late last month.
