Lupe Fiasco Shrugs Off Colorado Shooting

The hip hop star tells Hot 97 that people died in other places, too.

Lupe Fiasco is known for speaking his mind. The political rapper paid a visit to Hot 97 to promote his new album, Food & Liquor 2, and discuss a few current events. The Chicago Sun-Times columnist has proven time and time again to be more than just a hip hop artist with money, cash and cars on his mind. In conversation with Funkmaster Flex, he shared his opinion on the Aurora, Colorado, movie massacre

Flex: There was a situation that just happened over the weekend, which was a terrible tragedy…

Lupe: With the shooting, yea. Was that Chicago weekend?

Flex: It was actually…

Lupe: Was it New Orleans over the weekend?

Flex: Colorado.

Lupe: Oh that thing.

Flex: Yes.

Lupe: Because you know other people were dying in other cities, too.

The hip hop star joins several other race critics who have questioned whether or not Aurora would have received so much attention if the victims weren’t predominantly white. Just last year, Lupe made headlines for calling President Obama a terrorist and continues to express his anti-establishment views. Sure to be packed with more political commentary, his new album drops September 25.
