Hip Hop Inspires Olympian Michael Phelps' Last Gold Race
Michael Phelps ended his Olympian swimming career as the most decorated Olympic athlete in history. With a total of 18 gold medals and 22 medals overall, he will retire as a legend, and a fan of hip hop as well. Prior to Phelps' last career race, the 4x100 meter medley relay, he let his fans know what was on his playlist for his pre-competition workout.
“Last race tonight with the boys… Gonna b a fun one… Had @YoungJeezy @LilTunechi @LilJon @Avicii @afrojack and @iamdiddy on the playlist so far… Not sure what I’m gonna finish with tonight,” tweeted the Olympian star.
One fan responded that Phelps was “proof that Young Jeezy does not only motivate the thugs.” Jeezy, along with rappers Lil' Wayne, Lil' Jon and Diddy, can now say that they’ve inspired an Olympic champion. As hip hop is a favorite workout genre for many athletes, the “Flying Fish” has once again solidified that rap fans are very diverse.
