After months of speculation the hip hop star finally inks deal to become judge.
Producers at American Idol are done playing musical chairs with the cast of the upcoming season. Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj and country singer Keith Urban finalized deals to complete the revamped judges panel alongside Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson.
According to the Hollywood Reporter Idol producers confirmed reports of the new line-up on Sunday [September 16] and the panel got right to work preparing for season 12 of the talent competition. After signing Carey in July and deciding to bring Jackson back for another season Minaj and Urban are the final piece to the puzzle. And they didn't come cheap. The Young Money star is reportedly taking home $12 million, while Urban is coming in at half that price tag. Carey's salary is said to be $18 million as she was the first new judge to sign on after the departure of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
Auditions for the upcoming season begin in New York on Sunday.
