Lupe Fiasco is challenging D.L. Hughley to put his money where his mouth is after the comedian made headlines last week for criticizing Lupe's anti-voting stance. On Hartford, CT's Hot 93.7 last Friday [September 14], Hughley said the Chicago rapper was "bright as hell, but dumb to the ways of the world" because of his refusal to participate in the electoral process. Now, Lupe has responded to the comments on Twitter, defending his stance while challenging Hughley to join him in funding their own civic initiative.

"Obama need swing states and white people not radical rappers kissing his a-- to win this election," Lupe wrote.

The "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" rapper famously called the president a terrorist last year and has been emphatic in his belief that American politics are a lost cause. Hughley took exception to this line of thinking, arguing that if young Black men don't vote, they are allowing other people to decide policy for them.

“Young Black men are going to listen to him. They are the ones who have decisions made for them, [decisions] that they are not even involved in," he said.

Sidestepping politics altogether, Lupe said The Kings of Comedy star should join him in creating their own foundation to help inner-city youth.

"Better yet @RealDlHughley you put up 50k and I'll put up 50k and let's flesh out some programs for rural & inner city youths our damn selves," he wrote, later re-asserting the offer. "When you ready to drop that bread for these babies out here @RealDlHughley holla at me...til then #LeeMeAlone."

Hughley has yet to issue a response.
