Wyclef became the talk of the web last week after he used the occasion of his 43rd birthday to post a revealing photo of himself on Twitter. While the Fugees rapper and producer wasn’t quite in his proverbial birthday suit in the picture, he left little to the imagination, posing in nothing but a Speedo while sitting on a motorcycle. In his first interview since the controversial shot went viral, Clef tells Power 105.1's the Breakfast Club that he has no regrets.
"At 43, to look the way I look and feel the way I feel is incredible," he said, when asked if posting the photo, which has since made him the butt of a thousand jokes, made him feel regretful. "I don't regret anything that I do. I'm enjoying myself."
Clef explained that the offending photo was from an old photo shoot he did for a company in Italy and had actually already been posted to his Facebook and Instagram accounts before it exploded on Twitter.
"First of all, the pic with the Speedo, that's an old pic. I'm part of a bike club. Bike-Clef wore Speedos at the time. That's actually an old photo shoot, and those photos are actually up on Facebook or Instagram," he said. "This is actually a photo shoot for a company in Italy. I said 'I turned 43, I feel 26' based on that photo shoot that I had did. I'm telling you when I did the photo shoot so that you clear, right?"
Breakfast Club host Charlemagne suggested that Clef was having a "hip hop midlife crisis."
"TODAY I AM 43 YEARS OLD! I look And feel 26!," the "Gone 'Til November" rapper wrote in the initial tweet. "U cant keep good Man down! Keep smile when they want you to frown!'"
