Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj Display Shaky Alliance

Idol judges attempt to make nice at press conference.

Things may not be all roses between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, but the two proud pop divas and American Idol co-judges can still make nice every now and again. During a recent press conference for the upcoming season of Idol, Minaj shared some kind words about Carey, whom she famously feuded with behind the scenes during taping last year.
"I say nice things about Mariah all the time," Minaj said, according to Oh No They Didn't. "I tell Mariah all the time how much of a fan I am of her. She's one of my favorite artists of all time ... She's shaped a generation of singers. It's kind of crazy to be on a panel with her ... I feel excited to see [the contestants] see someone they look up to so much ... [and] hear her critique."

Chiming in, Carey described working with Minaj years ago and having positive feelings about her.
"And that was obviously a very sweet thing to say," she said. "Nicki and I worked together very early on in her career and did a song from an album I'd done called 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,' called 'Up Out My Face,' ironically ... it was one of my favorite videos and songs and I did feel that she was going to go very far, and still have that feeling and am grateful for anything nice that she and anyone else have to say about me."

Asked how they were able to cool things down to the point where they could get along, Minaj broke decorum by joking that she showed Carey a sex tape.
“And there it is,” Carey replied, rolling her eyes.

Baby steps.
