Authorities have identified a suspect in the drive-by shooting that left three people dead, including Bay-area rapper Kenny Clutch, born Kenneth Cherry Jr. Police named 26-year-old Ammar Harris as the lead suspect in the incident that triggered a deadly crash on the Las Vegas strip Thursday morning.

Cops across four states are looking for Harris, who they suspect murdered Cherry after an altercation in the valet area of the Aria Resort and Casino. The luxury Maserati Cherry was driving careened into oncoming traffic after he was shot, striking a taxicab near the famous Bellagio and Caesars Palace hotels just before dawn.

Witnesses say the cab burst into flames, killing driver Michael Boldon and an unidentified female passenger. The crash occurred on the busy intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, not far from where Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in 1996.

Family members said Boldon, 62, was “a number one guy,” who had recently welcomed a grandson into the world. Cherry’s father, Kenneth Cherry Sr., described the tragic incident as “something you never really, really ever want to experience as a parent.”

Cherry was known on the West Coast as an aspiring rapper whose videos featured him cruising the Vegas strip in his Maserati. An unnamed passenger in the luxury sports car was reportedly struck by gunfire but survived with only a minor injury to his arm.

Police say Harris shot at Cherry from a black SUV. They have been searching California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah for the vehicle since Thursday. Harris is described as 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds and those with information are asked to contact the Las Vegas Metro Police Department's homicide division.
