The singer/culinary artist dishes up food-themed album.
"I'm really excited, my album is done. It sounds like love and summer balled up into one," she tweeted.
Her idea of a love and summer mash sounds more like old-school R&B than her last, Flesh Tone, which was more electronica/dance-pop. But the tactics she used to record that album in 2009/2010 may have been inspiration. She said she recorded most of it in her home studio and offered producers her cooking — certified by the world's largest cooking school, Le Cordon Bleu — in exchange for studio time.
"Jerk Ribs" is produced by TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek. Earlier this year it was announced that she signed a two-album deal with his new label, Federal Prism, which is also distributing music from Freddie Gibbs (who was previously signed to Young Jeezy's CTE imprint) and Scarlett Johansson (who, yes, is an actress).
Expect more tasty treats from Kelis when the album releases; it's slated to drop sometime this year.
