Drake Drops Four Songs in One Day, Unveils Album Release Date

Drizzy jumps in the summer music frenzy.

Drake's more than ready to keep the summer interesting even though his album isn't expected to drop until mid-September. In the midst of new releases from Kanye West, J. Cole and Mac Miller (not to mention a new album from Jay-Z on the way), Drizzy rolled out four new songs this weekend, one of which is a named after a '90s super group.
Teaming up with his rap "brother" Cole, Drake dropped "Jodeci Freestyle," a diary-style song, and "The Motion" featuring Sampha, which stays in the lane of the bulk of the 26-year-old's repertoire — partly about relationships, partly about his struggles with stardom ("Seems like everybody calling cuz they want me on the phone/It's like every time I touch it, I can never do no wrong"). The sonically unique remix to Migo's "Versace" (where the Grammy winner rhymes about wanting to impregnate Halle Berry) and "Over Here" with his protégé PARTYNEXTDOOR round out the foursome.
OVO's fearless leader also announced September 17 as the release date of Nothing Was the Same via Twitter and retweeted a fitting post from singer/songwriter and fellow collaborator James Fauntleroy Sunday (June 23) night: "win some win some."
