Kendrick Lamar: Macklemore's Grammy Win "Well Deserved"

K. Dot talks hip hop culture and "music's biggest night."

Kendrick Lamar is good, despite the madness that has surrounded this year's Grammy Awards.

In an impromptu interview with XXL, Lamar addressed not winning any of his seven nominations while Macklemore took home four awards, most notably — to hip hop heads, at least — the Best Rap Album trophy.

"It's well deserved," he said. "He did what he did, man. He went out there and hustled and grinded. Everything happens for a reason; the universe comes back around. That's how it go."

But, it should go differently, King Kendrick proclaimed, when asked about whether or not the awards show undervalues hip hop. "I definitely feel like they [the Grammy committee] should always have more of the culture up in there, for sure, because we definitely stand out just like any other genre," he said.

"We part of the world. We part of the movement. So I think any awards, including the Grammys, should always push for more hip hop because it's music as a whole, it's not just splitting different regions. Everything moves as far as sound and vibrations, and that's how it goes. And we are a part of that."

As far as how his next album is going, "I got to get back into the studio and vibe out," he said. "But once I get in there, for sure, I'll let y’all know."
