Tyrese Clashes With Ex-Wife Over Custody Agreement

Cops called when singer went to pick up daughter.

A custody dispute ended with police being called to the Southern California home of Tyrese Gibson's estranged wife, reports TMZ

Tyrese showed up at Norma Gibson's North Hollywood home to pick up their 6-year-old daughter, Shayla, Monday (Feb. 11). Norma wouldn't allow the singer/actor to take the reportedly sick child. Cops were called to the scene to hash out their custody agreement and in the end, Tyrese left without his daughter.

"Norma Gibson, Tyrese's ex-wife, denied him a court custodial order with their daughter, Shayla, on Feb. 11, 2014," his rep said in a statement to US Weekly. "Tyrese arrived to pick up Shayla and was denied access by her mother. Mr. Gibson called the police to the scene, and Mrs. Gibson called TMZ."

Authorities never said which of the battling exes requested police assistance. According to TMZ's report Norma did place the call, but Tyrese is planning a legal rebuttal. His spokesperson confirmed an upcoming court date telling US Weekly, "Tyrese filed a 730 [custody] evaluation  with the courts in 2013, and the family will face a court-sanctioned evaluation this month. Hopefully this will end this ridiculous feud and Shayla can return to a comfortable environment."

Tyrese and his ex were married in 2007, divorced in 2009, and have been feuding ever since. Before their most recent custody incident, Norma filed legal documents accusing her daughter's father of blowing off family time last month to go to Dubai.

The 35-year-old traveled to the Middle Eastern country more than a month after his Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker died in a car accident. Norma believes he should have stayed stateside and spent the free time with their daughter.
