Lil Boosie's First Post-Prison Press Conference
Lil Boosie hasn't wasted any time getting back to business now that he's a free man. Boosie is holding his first post-prison press conference today, live from Baton Rouge, La.
The 31-year-old, née Torrence Hatch, has been locked up for the last several years for everything from parole violation to first-degree murder, and finally smuggling codeine and marijuana into prison. He was acquitted in the murder of Terry Boyd, of Louisiana, in 2011, and blamed the aforementioned drug offense on addiction.
Boosie was sentenced to eight years for the drugs, and was released early on good behavior.
With his release date switching up so many times, Boosie said it took a while for him to believe he was actually leaving custody. "I kinda got butterflies," he told XXL in his first post-prison interview. "I ain't had butterflies since my first concert…it's been so long."
He went on to speak about beating the murder rap and why things behind bars weren't exactly easier. "People probably thought when I won that [first-degree murder case] it was easy. It was a big burden off my back but it's hard…people keep messin' with you, and I was feeding into it sometime too because I don't like people talking to me any kind of way. At a certain point I had to just say, '[You] can't do nothin' bout it.'"
Once he was officially set free from the Louisiana State Penitentiary last week, Boosie recorded a couple of freestyles, hit up a local mall for a shopping spree, and reeled the new track "Wartime" with Webbie.
He was also spotted in the studio with Jeezy.
