Mama YG talks about recording on her son's debut, My Krazy Life.
There's nowhere a rap-mom wouldn't go for her rapper. Like YG's mother, Shonee Jackson, who one night even stepped into the booth for her "Bompton"-bred son.
Mama YG, as she is affectionately known, described the experience for BET.com's special Mother's Day video series, Hip Hop Mothers. She's the latest rap-mom to be featured following a group that included Myra Anderson, (Big Sean's mother), Teresa Caldwell (Bow Wow's mother) and Waka Flocka's mom-ager Deb Antney.
"[It was] the night he had to turn in his album, I surprised him and came to the studio," Mama YG recalled of her recording session.
"At first he was kind of like upset that I was there, and then he was like, 'Well, I guess since you're here, you might as well do the intro to my album.' So once YG wrote down what he wanted me to say, I went into the sound booth and I killed it," she continued, laughing.
The result was the aptly titled intro for his My Krazy Life debut, "Momma Speech Intro."
