First visuals for her upcoming album, The Pink Print, drops on VEVO.
After months of anticipation, loose singles and a controversial teaser video, the first official look off Nicki Minaj's third studio album has hit online, and it's just as sleek and beautifully simple as her recent return to au naturel.
The video for "Pills N Potions" premiered Monday (June 9) on VEVO, a fitting platform for her strong social media following, which boasts some 18 million followers on Twitter alone.
The visuals were directed by Diane Martel, who also got behind the lens for her "Right Thru Me." Geoffrey Lillemon provided the effects, including waves of mercurial tears flowing from her eyes at certain points throughout the video.
"Sometimes I get a beat or a hook and I just write what it tells me, what it feels like," Nicki explained of the song's concept. "What that felt like to me was forgiveness, you know, and just understanding that everybody gets mad, but when you love somebody, I feel like you'll always love them. I don't feel like there's ever been somebody that I loved that I no longer love, I just may not be able to live with you or have you in my life, and that's really what the song is about."
For her strong and silent love interest, Minaj picked up a shirtless Game, who most recently gave her the same-page nod (perhaps with a shirt on) when he and fellow YMCMB spitter Tyga added their take to her "Chi-raq" song.
No release date has been set as yet for The Pink Print, however word is, from Nicki herself, that it can be expected this year.
