Kanye West Meets with 18-year-old Rapper Raury
An 18-year-old artist by the name of Raury has caught the attention of Kanye West. The Atlanta rapper's music video for his song "God's Whisperer" moved West so much that he flew the teen out to meet in person.
West finds talent on all different age scales. He's reportedly been working with Paul McCartney, 73, and collaborating with Chief Keef, 18.
His work with Raury hasn't been outlined yet, but a photo of the two went up on 'Ye's fan site this week. "The photo was taken shortly after Kanye West saw the 'God's Whisper' video," a rep for Raury explained to Complex.com. "'Ye personally flew Raury out and expressed that he was inspired by the visual. The two played each other's album and just kicked it. However, West is working on his next album and they plan to hit the studio very soon."
Raury's rap style sounds similar to Andre 3000, and he might just be the luckiest newcomer in rap right now. Before West took notice, the teen had already landed an opening spot on Outkasts' homecoming tour, along with Kid Cudi and Chilidish Gambino. Not bad for a guy who hasn't released a full album yet.
His EP, Indigo Child, comes out this Monday (Aug. 25).
