Blu Cantrell Hospitalized for Mental Evaluation

Singer found running through a Santa Monica neighborhood screaming about "poisonous gas."

Singer Blu Cantrell was hospitalized for a mental evaluation Wednesday (Sept. 3) after she ran through a Santa Monica, Calif., neighborhood screaming that her life was in danger, TMZ reports.

At 2 a.m. that morning, Cantrell, who is best known for her 2001 single “Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!),” started ranting about someone trying to give her “poisonous gas.” Witnesses say the erratic behavior lasted for so long that police were called.

Cantrell reportedly referred to herself as a “one-hit wonder,” after questioning if authorities recognized her.

The 38-year-old, born Tiffany Cobb, hasn’t been in the public eye much throughout the years. Her last album, Bittersweet, was released over a decade ago. In 2008, Cantrell appeared on the NBC reality show Celebrity Circle and was eliminated within two weeks.
