Stevie Wonder to Embark on Songs in the Key of Life Tour

Music legend talks new trek, Ferguson and more.

Almost 40 years later, music legend Stevie Wonder is bringing his Grammy-winning 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life, to the stage this fall.

Announced during a press conference on Wednesday (Sept. 10) at the Grammy Museum at L.A. Live, the Songs in the Key of Life Performance Tour, produced and promoted by Live Nation, will see the "Isn't She Lovely" crooner visit 11 cities, kicking off on Nov. 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

While the main purpose of the press conference was to promote the upcoming nationwide trek, the socially conscious musician wanted to touch on the recent happenings in Ferguson, Mo. According to Billboard, Wonder stated that the Ferguson mayor isn't seeing the full picture a month after Michael Brown's murder, citing race relations in the city as being an obvious problem.

"I don't know if the mayor has blinders on," he said. "But to say that he didn't know that there was a racial or cultural problem in the city is unfortunate."

Furthermore, the musician said that he approved of how President Barack Obama had responded to the protests and riots in the city following the 18-year-old's killing last month.

Expect to hear this passion for world issues infused into his performances this fall as he plans to create new music highlighting all that's happened in the past few months with the hope of redefining the value of love.

"Unfortunately, we're living in a time of disposable love and we've got to get it from that place to really valuing life, valuing love and valuing each other," he said.

Tickets for Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life Performance Tour will become available to Citi card members on Sept. 16. General tickets for select cities will go on sale beginning Sept. 22.
