Alicia Keys Talks Pregnancy, New Music

Did the mom-to-be just reveal that she's having a boy? Plus, she shares more news about her upcoming album.

With a new baby and new album on the way, Alicia Keys couldn’t be more energized about the future. Keys stopped by Angie Martinez's Power 105.1 show Tuesday (Sept. 16) to talk about her upcoming bundle of joy and the LP she's calling the "best" music of her career.

Keys gushed so much that she may have revealed that she’s expecting a boy during the interview. She and Martinez referred to the baby as “he,” although she wasn’t ready to announce the sex. “Not right now,” she said smiling.

The "We Are Here" singer also talked about her relationship with Swizz Beatz and raising a blended family. The couple collectively have four children together. “I think the thing about love is that you have to really understand each other for real,” she said. “You have to really know the person and you have to be willing to show who you are. Then [you] have to accept each other for who you are and absolutely adore each other for who you are. You know what I mean? I love you for exactly who you are. Not trying to change you and make you be who I want you to be, and who I think you should be, and who I wished you were, but who you are. I think if you can do that, then you can be great friends and you can have a great time.”

Being a stepmother allows Keys to be “another ear, another eye, another person they [the children] can come to,” she said.

The 15-time Grammy winner’s expanding family isn’t the only thing she chatted about. Keys also dropped more hints about working on her sixth album. “There's a certain intention with it,” explained Keys. “A certain purpose with it that feels really good. We’re all just witnessing what’s going on around us in the world and I think we all feel a lot and don’t know exactly how to express it.”
