Blige will also take the stage following the film’s premiere as part of the festival’s Special Screenings series, which pairs films with live performances. The album was recorded over a 10-day period and features U.K. stars like Sam Smith, Disclosure and Emeli Sandé.
This year’s festival welcomes a handful of Special Screenings documentaries including A Ballerina’s Tale, written and directed by Nelson George. The highly anticipated film takes a behind-the-curtains look at Misty Copeland, the first Black soloist at New York’s American Ballet Theater in the last 20 years.
The Tribeca Film Festival runs April 15-26.
