Kanye West Doesn't Know When SWISH Will Release

It may be years from now.

Kanye West premiered the second season of his Yeezy collection during New York Fashion Week, and today Vanity Fair has published their exclusive sit-down with him.

West talks mostly about designing apparel, but we get some more details on his long-awaited album, SWISH. While information is still scarce, he’s released songs (“Only One,” “All Day,” “Wolves”) that have hinted the album will be out sometime this year. However, according to this interview, we probably won’t be seeing it for a long time.

“I thought they’d be happy to hear some new music. I’ve been doing that [making a new album] too,” he says of premiering a new song called “Fade” during the showcase. “That’s like a sonic landscape, a two-year painting. That song I played has been a year and a half in the making and it may be still a year from being complete. But it was to let people get a glimpse at the painting.”

When asked when we’ll see the album, West says, “I’m not sure. I’m not worried about the years. I’m worried about the life and the body of work that I can put out while I’m breathing.”

Later in the interview, he confirmed his presidential run in 2020, but wouldn’t share any specifics on his campaign agenda. Surprisingly, he forgot what he first called SWISH, but also confirmed that it's the name of his seventh studio album. It was previously named So Help Me God for those of you keeping track.
