Who is Phoenix Jones?

The man, who goes by the name Phoenix Jones and wears a mask and uniform, says he will keep fighting crime in Seattle and everywhere else.

Many people dream about what it would be like to be a super hero, but very few actually live it. Until now.

Phoenix Jones has become a hero to some in Seattle, Washington. Typically wearing a mask and black and gold uniform, the man takes to the streets to fight crime in his own way. On Thursday, the crusader, whose real name is Benjamin John Francis Fodor, 23, found himself in court after he was arrested on Sunday for pepper spraying a group of people leaving a nightclub. Fodor says he was trying to break up a fight when he was attacked.

Fodor walked free on Thursday because prosecutors told the judge they needed more time to decide whether to file charges, according to a report from The Seattle Times. He did spend about seven hours in jail before posting $3,800 bail.

But don’t let the costume fool you, Fodor is serious about his commitment. "I will continue to patrol with my team, probably tonight," Fodor told the newspaper. He says he's the leader of the Rain City Superhero Movement, and says they have patrolled the city since last year. "In addition to being Phoenix Jones, I am also Ben Fodor, father and brother. I am just like everybody else. The only difference is that I try to stop crime in my neighborhood and everywhere else," he said.

The Phoenix Jones Facebook page has more than 28,500 fans, and Fodor is seen triumphantly smooching a costume-clad woman in his profile picture. Messages of support came in a constant stream by Thursday, including one user who posted: “I am glad to see someone who is fighting the good fight. It's time we took back our cities so we can live without fear.”
