Atlanta Teen Shot and Killed by Fake Police

Two security guards are being investigated in the deadly shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Ervin Jefferson, who was fatally shot minutes away from his home in metro Atlanta.

Trayvon Martin, 17, was recently the victim of gunfire by a community watch volunteer, and now authorities are investigating a shooting in which two African-American security guards are said to have shot and killed 18-year-old Ervin Jefferson just minutes away from his home in metro Atlanta.

Police have confirmed the young man was shot by security guards from the Village at Wesley Chapel Apartments, located minutes from Jefferson’s home in DeKalb.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish says security guards Curtis Scott and Gary Jackson face charges of impersonating police officers.

Detectives say young women had intentions to beat up Jefferson’s sister and, as Scott and Jackson were questioning them after allegedly identifying themselves as police officers, someone reportedly began firing shots in the area. Police say Jefferson then drove up in another car and ran toward the crowd "aggressively, possibly threatening to kill them."

Jefferson’s mother, Candy Grimes, claims her son ran outside of their home toward a crowd of people on Saturday who had driven up in at least two cars and who were threatening his sister.

Grimes said she saw a man in a green shirt — who was later identified as a nearby residence security guard — shoot her son. After he was shot, someone else drove a car into him, she claims.

"By the time I got down there, the car was on top of my son. He was literally under the car,” she told a local station.

Jefferson, who suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Jefferson's stepfather, Bobby Hubbard Jr., 35, who is suspected of firing shots from Jefferson's house, was charged with reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

No further charges have been filed in Jefferson's death, but similar to the Trayvon Martin case, many questions remain unanswered.
