The Reno-Sparks NAACP chapter has made history. The local chapter of the national organization recently appointed its first non-Black president in its 66 years of serving the Reno, Nevada, community.

Attorney Jeffrey Blanck, who succeeds Lonnie Feemster as president, was sworn in last week as the new chief. Blanck had previously served the organization as the second vice president. He has been practicing law for 27 years and his specialty is discrimination, education and civil rights law.

"I am proud that our leadership and membership reflect the rich diversity of our community and our country," Blanck said.
