Sharpton's National Action Network Boycotts "Django Unchained" Toys

Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network has chimed in with its stance on the controversial Django Unchained action figures and wants the public to boycott. Sharpton says the toys make "a mockery of slavery."

"Selling this doll is highly offensive to our ancestors and the African-American community," Rev. K.W. Tulloss told the NY Daily News. "The movie is for adults, but these are action figures that appeal to children. We don't want other individuals to utilize them for their entertainment, to make a mockery of slavery."

A Django Unchained 8-inch action figure starts at $29.99 on Amazon, and a 10-doll set sells for $795 by doll manufacturer National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA).

Django Unchained was a box office hit among African-American audiences. When it opened on Christmas Day, 42 percent of its audience was Black; it has grossed approximately $106.4 million in the domestic box office.
