Educator William H. Crogman was born.
On April 28, 1841, educator and William H. Crogman was born on the West Indian island of St. Martin.
He became a professor at Claflin University in 1870 and six years later joined the faculty of what is presently Clark Atlanta University. He would serve as the school's president between 1903 and 1910, guiding the institution as its influence grew.
His other honors include being named the first secretary of the Boards of Trustees of Gammon Theological Seminary and serving as superintendent of Clark Atlanta's Sunday school for 29 years. He retired from teaching in 1921. Crogman passed away in 1931.
