The Jacksons: An American Dream, which chronicled the rise to fame of the Jacksons, premiered on ABC on Nov. 15, 1992. The five-hour, made-for-TV film aired in parts, with the final episode showing on Nov. 18, 1992. The film was based on Katherine Jackson's autobiography My Family.

The movie told the story of how Katherine and Joe Jackson raised their children, Michael Jackson's childhood struggles, the Jacksons' early fame and Michael's superstardom.

The series became one of the most popular music-biography miniseries in the 1990s and went on to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Choreography.
