At least six children were shot Sunday night.
This past holiday weekend, at least nine people were killed and 36 were shot in Chicago gun violence. Among the injured were six children who were struck with bullets on Sunday evening.
Shots rang out from a vehicle and hit the children ranging in age from 11 to 15. They were playing in an elementary school playground, according to the Chicago Tribune. Tymisha Washington, 11, was the most severely injured having being struck twice — once in the chin and in her lung. The bullet also fractured her collarbone. She and the other injured children have been stabilized.
On Saturday morning, Jordan Means, 16, and Anthony Bankhead, 18, were found dead in an apartment. They were both shot in the head. The killing was a result of a Facebook dispute, according to Means's mother, NBC Chicago reports.
The other fatal shootings include a Chicago police officer and her husband, which authorities are calling a murder-suicide on 5 a.m. Sunday.
A 43-year-old man, 19-year-old man and 20-year-old were also among those killed over the bloody weekend.
