Chicago Gun Violence: 5 People Dead, 24 Injured This Past Weekend

Five people were killed and 24 were wounded in gun violence this past weekend in Chicago, Fox 32 Chicago reports.
Elijah Moore, 41, and Deonte Jackson, 34, died in a nightclub shooting early Monday morning. Gunshots rang out following a fight at the Dolphin Club in the Bucktown section of Chicago. The crowd reportedly laid low after hearing the shots. Moore was struck in the chest and Jackson was hit several times, according to the Chicago Tribune. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third man was struck in the wrist and taken to an area hospital where he was treated for his injury.

On Sunday afternoon, Andre Chatman, 23, and Carey Hollis, 28, were both shot while driving a vehicle. After being struck, the driver continued steering the wheel and crashed into a pole, Fox 32 reports. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The youngest victim was 16-year-old Giovanni Matos, who was shot in the head Sunday afternoon and died shortly after, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The boy was reportedly in an argument leading up to this death.

In 2015, there has been 57 deaths because of gun violence so far, according to data compiled by the Red Eye Chicago homicide tracker.
