Cincinnati Man Shot Dead by Officer During Traffic Stop

Samuel Dubose, a 43-year-old African-American, was shot dead by a University of Cincinnati police officer this past Sunday. Dubose was pulled over after police saw him driving without a front license plate, CNN reports.

Samuel Dubose, a 43-year-old African-American father of 13, was shot dead by a University of Cincinnati police officer this past Sunday. Dubose was pulled over after Officer Ray Tensing saw him driving without a front license plate, WCPO reports.

During the traffic stop, Tensing asked Dubose for his driver's license and instead, Dubose allegedly passed him a bottle of alcohol. Tensing then ordered Dubose to get out of his car but Dubose refused. A struggle between the two men followed. Dubose then pressed on the gas and sped away. Tensing fired a fatal shot that hit Dubose in the head.
Dubose was unarmed, police believe. He had previously been arrested 60 times, but his death still warrants answers as to why the officer chose to shoot Dubose as he was driving away. His family and friends are trying to make sense of Dubose's death.

"Know that my son was not a violent person," said Audrey Dubose, Samuel Dubose's mother, according to WLWT-TV. "My son ... he got stopped a lot but he never tried to fight."
Tensing has been placed on administrative leave with pay. Investigators will be looking at footage from Tensing's body camera and from cameras on nearby buildings.
