Heartbreaking Photos: Toddler Cries at His Father's Coffin During Funeral

Police officer Endy Ekpanya was killed by a drunk driver.

Here's a picture that speaks a thousand tragic words.
Texas police officer Endy Ekpanya was killed on June 12th when he got in a car crash with an alleged drunk driver.  On Tuesday, hundreds of officers, and mourners attended Ekpanya's funeral and when his young son crawled up to his father's casket, a reporter who was in attendance took heartbreaking photos of the little boy weeping at his dad's coffin. 

His police department said that "Endy had a powerful impact on those around him." Adding that there are "Stories about of his generosity and compassion."

A reporter from the Houston Chronicle took photos of Ekpanya's son, Julian, crying near his father's flag-covered coffin during the ceremony at Grace Community Church in Houston.

Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to honor the memory of the officer and husband who was known for going well beyond what was required of him. "This is just something you simply cannot prepare for," Ekpanya's wife, Lucy Lugo, said. "But even now that I say that, Endy did. Endy always went a step above."
The pictures are haunting, showing the impact of Ekpanya's loss on his family. He was simply trying to do his duty to protect and serve and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
