Details Behind Texas Mother Who Killed Her Daughters and Was Shot By Police

Her husband and the father of the girls is heartbroken.

A mother was shot by police on Saturday after they learned she had murdered her two daughters in the street — she refused to drop her weapon. Buzzfeed News reports that the armed shooter, identified as Christy Sheats, 42, shot her daughters after a family dispute.

When police arrived on the scene in the city of Fulshear, Texas, just west of Houston, they found Madison Sheats, 17, and her sister, Taylor, 22, shot. One of them died on impact, while the other was flown to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She died shortly after arrival.

Their mother, Christy, refused to surrender her weapon, going against police's orders: "The armed shooter was also in the street and, after refusing to drop her weapon, was shot and killed by a Fulshear office," the Sheriff's office reported.

"Our office was forced to take action," the Fulshear Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. "He was not injured and no deputies were injured... This was a tragic and unfortunate occurrence and we are deeply saddened by the results."

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told reporters that the shooting stemmed from a family disagreement: "This has been a family distrubance," he said. "And it appears that the mother ended up shooting her two children... We're still trying to put the pieces together."

The father of the girls and the shooter's husband was at home during the shooting. He's now crushed after learning of what occurred.

"He's going through a very difficult time,"Sheriff Nehls said.

Also in Texas, no charges were made for the cop who slammed the teen girl to the ground at a pool party. Learn more of the decision in the video, above.
